Shangri-La is one of those venues that I have a love-hate relationship with. It’s no doubt a beautiful venue and great for wedding portraits and smaller weddings in general. But every time I’ve shot a wedding there, there’s been a sand storm(!). How is that possible? We live in the desert so you would presume that sand storms are quite common but I don’t actually think that it is. Well, apparently Shangri-La and I are blessed as we managed to get three in all the three times we’ve worked together in the outdoor venue. Not all sandstorms were too bad, but at Hannah & Julian’s wedding, it was completely orange when I arrived on scene in the morning!
Now if this is a worry of yours, take a deep breath and relax. Sand storms are usually worse at certain parts of the day and we were lucky that it was worse in the morning. By noon it cleared up a bit and the ceremony could be held outside. It was beautiful. A yellow and blue beach garden wedding with an Arabic touch. Hannah had done such an amazing job with all of her DIY jobs and table arrangements and she tied it all together beautifully with the ceremony canopy from BLISS.
Hannah & Julian wanted to incorporate a lot of shots of the hotel surroundings for their guests and picked this venue specifically for the Arabic features. They wanted their guests that came from abroad to really experience that they were in the Middle East. And boy did they experience it:)
